Haunted House...
For our multi modal reading last week we wrote about a house that is very old fashioned and ratty. This was a very fun task.
There once was a scary old man who lived in a scary old house. He used to yell and scream at kids for
walking past House until one day he just disappeared…
It was April 13th 1987 we walked over to the mailbox and Mr Kipper yelled at me from across the road!
We ran away in terror and fright; we never walked to the mailbox again. Dad always took us to the
mailbox in the car. We lived in fright living next to that horrific man until one day we went out and
he was gone... He never yelled at us; he never came outside so we called the police to come and
see if he was ok because we didn't sign our death wish if he was alive and we walked in no one knew
what would happen to us. They came out of the house with a body bag but it was unusual it had
something sticking up. Sargent Chris came over and told my parents that he was brutally murdered with
at least seven stab marks. My parents asked if they knew when it happened or who did it but that
mystery was never solved.
It is now October 23rd and we decided to torch his house as no one had come to claim it so
we spread gasoline over it and then threw many light matches on it watching the house burn was a big
relief there was no evil man living next to me making me have to be scared of walking to the mailbox.
I am so happy that i don't have to worry about that dreaded man

Animal based story writing
This week for writing we had a choice of 3 ideas for animal based writing. We could either make a story that was based on a sad animal experience a entertaining story, or finally the one i did a letter to Jacinda about if all cats got called as 'pests' and had to be euthanized.
Dear Jacinda Ardern
My name is Eden Watson and I'm from Moana on the west coast of
the south island. I believe that cats should not be labelled as ‘pests’!
Cats are loving, caring, compassionate and are amazing animals to have!
You can label feral cats as ‘pests’ or ferrets as ‘pests’ but there is
no way that a pet cat should be labelled as a ‘pest’. Is a dog a pest?
We cats should not be either!
Cats treat people with love, why can't we treat them with love?
As Anthony Doughlas Williams stated “When humans act with cruelty
we characterise them as ‘animals’ yet the only animal that displays
cruelty is humanity”
Don't you think that we should stop being so hypocritical
to one another and not show animal cruelty! It is just wrong
to euthanize animals that haven't done anything wrong!
Before you make your final call please consider letting them live.
They mean the world to a lot of people!
Thank you very much for taking the time to read my letter.
Sincerely Eden Watson.
Week 4 topic on Pets
I really enjoyed doing these activities! next time i think i might add to the magazine covers more but other than that i think i did well.
My opinion writing!
For writing last week we did it based on three options they were: i would rather go without a washing machine than my chrome book, a cell phone is more important than a oven and the one i did a electric jug is more important than a dish washer. We could agree or disagree with the statement.
I strongly believe that an electric jug is better than a dishwasher! These are my reasons why I
think that it is more important to have a jug than a dishwasher: you can wash dishes by hand, jug is a quick way to heat water and finally a dishwasher is expensive! |
First of all I believe that the dishwasher is less important than an electric jug because washing
dishes by hand is easy! Washing the dishes by hand is a simple task hot water and dish soap
that's all you need! When you wash the dishes you can make sure that they are clean to how
you like them! I think that washing the dishes by hand is just as easy if not more easy than
using the dishwasher! This brings me to my next point: the jug is the best way to boil water in
my opinion!
|
My second reason is a lot of people use their electric jug on a daily basis, as it is the quickest
way to boil water. There are other ways you could boil water like a pot on the stove or putting
a jug on the stove it is longer to do tho! When you boil the jug it takes a max of 5 minutes but
when you boil water on the stove it could take up to 10-15 minutes to boil. Using a jug could
save you time to maybe make you not miss the bus or be late for work, or miss out on that
morning wakening of coffee! This brings me to my last point: having a dishwasher is expensive!
|
My final point is that a dishwasher is expensive! A dishwasher can range from 1-5 thousand
dollars that is a lot of money to spend on an optional appliance! Think of all the things you
could spend the money on: that game you have had your eye on for a long time, the holiday
you wanted to take your family on. The money can be used for better things! A jug can be
less than a tenth of the price!
|
In conclusion I think that having a dishwasher is not a necessity, it's an option. That's why you are debating between a dishwasher and an electric jug. I strongly believe that a jug is a much better idea!
